Hypnotic Duo never cease to amaze me. I can't figure out if they've just created an entirely new genre with the release of Empire. There isn't such a thing as Deep Techno is there? Or maybe Ambient Tech-House? Or how about Horror Movie Soundtrack Techno??? This track defies genre cataloging completely. It's Deep Techno, with Tech-House elements & I can totally hear it as the main song on a suspense or horror flick. This might be what Trent Reznor would be writing if he had taken a left turn back in the Pretty Hate Machine Days and started writing Dance music.....
First up on the remix, Lucas Tesselhoff. Lucas gives us a low-slung Tech-House rendition of Empire. He stays true to the eeriness of the original and adds more chug to the pot. Nice take!
Simon Firth does an excellent job of nailing this track down into the Progressive House category. He keeps it dark, brooding and twisted but puts a club friendly spin to it. Very driving, nice work on this.
