I’ve studied film scoring at the UCLA Extension and I’ve studied and practiced composition for the past ten years. Most recently I’ve worked on projects through PBS, AT&T, USC and UCLA. I’ve worked on films ranging from documentaries to music videos - features to animated shorts.

Music should be like magic. It should be inspiring, because no matter what it is it always has power over us. It shapes our mood and colors our personality. Yet no matter whether music is calm or turbulent, I find that I’m most interested in something that tells a story. And when it does, I feel transported to a new world. Now, when I say it tells a story I’m not referring to music with lyrics. I’m talking about stories that are told through orchestrations and melodies. I’m talking about music that gives us permission to dream of something bigger than ourselves – music that introduces us to new adventures and familiar homes. I like music that is specific. I like being able to say “This is what this moment feels like.” And that’s my purpose in releasing Backyard Magic. Here, you will find twenty distinct moods that describe events both real and unreal – small and large. I find that no matter the story being told, I’ll always have music in mind. I’m always trying to elevate the scene. So I hope you enjoy listening to these pieces as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them.
