Taking Me Back

Taking Me Back

At the end of 2011, Tom began planning a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for fully-produced tracks. The intent was to properly showcase his music. Funding was successfully raised in March of 2012, and he began recording four full-production songs in a professional recording studio at the beginning of June. These are the opening four songs on the CD, which were produced and arranged by engineer/pianist Jeremy Cays, with Tom co-producing.

"Lord You Are" and "Defeated" feature Tom's former Wormwood band mate Brian Douglas on lead guitar. The title track features Mary Moon on fiddle, Hayden Pomeroy of Abby Mae & The Homeschool Boys on upright bass, and Jeremy on piano. "When I Say That I Love You" was written as a Valentine's Day gift for his wife Becky, and shines with Jeremy's arrangement and piano playing. The remaining are tracks produced in Tom's home, starting with the tale of a fictitious couple's high school romance and marriage, tragically ending in divorce with "Learning to Forgive." Perhaps one of the most outstanding of these home produced songs is "You Are Here," which was featured on Australian radio. Tom again pays tribute to his late father with "I Miss You," which features a Phil Collins influenced arrangement. The first tribute being on his debut album, with "Until We Meet Again." "Lovely One" is a 50's style love song, and "One More Chance" is a country song similar in style and theme to "Learning to Forgive." "Everything" features Tom's acoustic style that his fans know and love, with James Taylor style finger-picking and a funky bass line with an R&B groove. The album closes with "Grace to Glory," a song written by special request from a fan and dear friend JoAnn, who had recently lost her husband Don: a Vietnam veteran who had recently given his heart to the Lord.

Tom says this is his most important album yet, and I think his fans will agree that it is also his best so far.
