Created in 2009 by Magnus Österlund, Oscar Lindblad and Fabian Lungren. Joined by Pontus Smedhagen shortly thereafter. Spectra played its first show in January 2010 in the Emergenza festival. The performance placed Spectra in First place and they advances to sixth place in the Scandinavian finals of 2010.

During the fall of 2010 the band played many more shows and participated in the East coast riot competition(not to be confused with the festival). Jury and crowd took the band to the final round where they came in fifth place.

The spring 2011 Spectra participated in the Emergenza festival once again and yet again rose to the Scandinavian finals. This time receiving the "Musician award" for their performance in the finals.

During the summer Spectra played at the "Peace and Love" festival in Sweden. The band changed its image during this summer to dress coats of diffrent colors and other more "proper" accesories.

The fall of 2011 Spectra played all around Stockholm and also played at the release gig of the band Deathembers first ep.

Spring 2012 Spectra played in Studiefrämjandets band competition known as Livekarusellen. Spectra won the Stockholms regional final and played at Gröna lund 2 months after that at Livekarusellens national final. The results are best forgotten....

The summer of 2012 Spectra planned to go into the studio and record their first proper music release. However Spectra were forced to postpone these plans until the fall of 2012 due to the somewhat sudden departure of 2 of its members.

Pontus Smedhagen and Oscar Lindblad decided to leave the band during the summer of 2012 to pursue other musical projects. Spectras remaining members quickly decided that they would not stop because of this and started searching for new members while simultaneously recording new music during the fall of 2012.

The solution for the lack of members was found in early 2013, when Tobias Sandin (Ex-Deathember vocals) joined the circus, but this time behind the drums!
Shortly after that, we found the one and only Jimmy Melcher to join the circus, and thus we are complete!
