Real Music for Real People

Real Music for Real People

Black Angel is a blues based, rock 'n' roll band in the vein of the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers that began in 1999 with the same four members as today (J. C. Martin: singer, guitar player, writer and producer; Cory Orosco: bass, keyboards and back-up vocals; Ernie Orosco: guitar and back-up singer; and Tina Stefens: drums) but with the addition of two other musicians, Audrey Turner Madison, (who was previously and currently the lead singer for Ike Turner and the Rhythm Kings and is now Mrs. Ike Turner) and bassplayer, Ronnie Turner, the only son of both Ike and Tina Turner. The original band was called The Prophets. The Prophets released a five song extended play CD and headlined such Los Angeles and Santa Barbara clubs as The Roxy, The Wildcat Lounge, Jack's Sugar Shack, Luna Park, etc. In late 1999 the band was re-named Black Angel. Black Angel has released three full length CDs, "O' California", "13 Stories" and "Real Music for Real People". From 1999-2001 Brad Barclay was a member of Black Angel and played drums and Darrell Devlin was a band member of Black Angel playing percussion and singing back-up. Black Angel has headlined B.B. King's Blues Club, The Coach House (San Juan Capistrano), SRI (Studio Instrument Rentals record company showcases co-sponsored by Linda Lombardi Management), The Musicians Institute (Los Angeles- showcase and video shoot), Paladino's, Rusty's Surf Ranch, The Martini Lounge, etc. Black Angel will release two, related albums over the next year: "O' Santa Barbara"; and "O' Los Angeles". The newest album, released early in 2007, "O' California" is a mixture of rock 'n' roll, blues rock, country rock, country and pop and has been compared favorably to the Rolling Stones classic album, "Exile On Main Street". Black Angel currently has 9 songs from "O' California"; 5 songs from "O' Los Angeles"; 4 songs from "Real Music for Real People"; and 1 song from "O' Santa Barbara" available for listening on Garageband.com. Black Angel expects to release another new album, "O' Santa Barbara", in April, 2007. This will be a full on rock 'n' roll album.
