Dwight "Jet" Oliver was born in Allman Town, Jamaica and nurtured a keen interest in music from his childhood days listening to the sounds of authentic reggae blazing like the ever present scorching sunshine in the Woodford Park community in Kingston, where his family later relocated. He immigrated with his family to the United States at age 12 and benefited from the fusion of reggae music and hip-hop, which soon permeated the party scene.

Jet, consistently looked for an outlet for his musical inclinations, while attending high school in New York City. He wrote songs, fiddled with instruments and sought out the underlying meanings in songs produced by Reggae Ambassadors, Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and the exciting group Third World, which always left him energized and more determined to make his musical mark.
